Course Description

This course is intended as an introduction to solving differential equations

and studying properties of solutions.

Textbook

The textbook for the course is "Advanced Engineering Mathematics", 5th Edition
by Dennis G. Zill and Warren S. Wright, published by Jones & Bartlett (2013)

Grading Policy

There will be 3 exams given in class. Each exam counts as 30% of your final grade. A missed exam gives a score of zero and there are no makeup exams other than the final exam --- although, under extreme (and well documented) circumstances, it may be possible to make arrangements to take a test in advance.

There will be approximately 15 online homework assignments using WebWork. The two lowest homework scores will be dropped and the remaining scores will be averaged to produce 1 score. So the homework will count as 10% of your final grade.

The final exam will consist of two separate hour exams producing 2 more scores. These two scores can be used to replace previous lower test scores. Therefore the final exam provides the opportunity to make up or replace up to 2 previous lower scores. This final is a comprehensive final.

After the final you will have 5 test I will take your best 3 scores out of the 5 scores. Each of these will count 30% of your final grade, the remaining 10% comes from your homework.
