Her autobiography is an excellent source book, providing the only contemporary account of Lorraine Bryson Terhune, Albert Payson Terhune's first wife who died only four days after the birth of their daughter.
This book is still available in a reprint edition published by Ayer
Co Pub in June 1980 (ISBN 0-405-128606).
Unfortunately, the book has been long out of print, with copies of it quite difficult to locate.
The Bert Terhune I Knew,

Privately published, this item has long been out of print. However, copies

From the dust jacket: "Mr. Litvag reveals Terhune to be a complicated man who was possessed of boundless compassion for his collies, endless love for Anice, and benign indifference for Lorraine, his only child, whose mother - Terhune's first wife - died in childbirth. He writes of a quick - tempered, crotchety Terhune and of an adoring husband; of a writer who rebuffed true literary endeavors for money's sake while sneering at himself as a "scrawler of second - rate stuff"; of a man who found spiritual sustenance in the beauty of Sunnybank while being obsessed by a fear of dying in poverty."
The book should be in the possession of every Terhune fan, whether a
serious collector or not. Though long out of print, this volume has been reissued in a softcover, print on demand version.
Published privately in November 1997 in a limited edition of 500, this
item is still in print and available from the author. It should be
in the library of every serious Terhune collector.
Rather than information on the Terhunes, this book provides detailed information on all of the Sunnybank collies - their show and breeding records, everyday lives, pedigree and influence on breeders of the time and future.
The book is extensively researched, contains numerous photographs and is the definitive reference on the Sunnybank collies. It should be in the collection of anyone interested in Terhune, Sunnybank or collies.
The volume was published in a limited edition of 500 copies by the
Collie Health Foundation in the summer
of 2001 with all copies being sold out by the Gathering at Sunnybank in August
2001. Copies do occasionally appear on auction sites and on the secondary market.
