DISTINGUISHED SPEAKERS

OUTSTANDING EARLY-CAREER SPEAKERS

GRADUATE STUDENT/YOUNG RESEARCHER POSTER SESSION

Graduate students, post doctoral fellows and other young researchers are encouraged to fill in the conference registration (no fee) and present their work in the poster session on Friday, November 10, 2006. The posters can be any size but should be legible enough for an average person to be able to read from a distance of 3 ft. TTU students can get their posters printed free of charge at the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center. The students can use the Powerpoint template files provided at the TLTC website (click on this link). Other instructions can also be found at that site. External presenters can use the same template files and get their posters printed at TLTC for a price of $3.50 per square foot. For a 34'' x 40'' poster, this amounts to  $33.



TENTATIVE CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

All talks will be given in the Ball Room of the Clarion Hotel in Lubbock, TX. This hotel is located on Ave. Q near the intersection with 4th Street. It was formerly called Four-Points Sheraton.

The mini-symposium is primarily sponsored by Prof. Frits Ruymgaart’s Paul Whitfield Endowed Horn Professorship and by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Horn Professor Ruymgaart generously provides funds from his endowed professorship to support distinguished speakers. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics pays other organizational expenses such as advertising and transportation to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The Air Force Office of Scientific Research is providing partial support for the distinguished and early career speakers.

SOCIAL PROGRAM

On Saturday (November 11), a local sight-seeing tour is arranged to Palo Duro Canyon State Park , approximately two hours away from Lubbock. In this social session the participants, especially the graduate students and early-career researchers, will have the opportunity to visit and interact with the speakers in an informal atmosphere.


CONFERENCE FEES

There is NO registration fee for the conference.
