About the Conference

The Conference of Texas Statisticians (COTS) is an annual conference established at the annual American Statistical Association (ASA) meeting in Houston in 1980. The first COTS meeting was held in 1981 in Waco and has been held every year since. Beginning in 1985, the Texas Chapters of the ASA were invited to establish the Council of Texas Statisticians with representatives from each Texas Chapter. The aim of this conference is to provide statisticians an opportunity for social and intellectual exchange with other researchers in Texas.

While this year's conference must be held virtually due to the ongoing pandemic, it is our goal to still bring together statisticians from throughout the state to celebrate each other and the great work being done by students and professionals alike looking towards the future. To achieve this goal, we will have 10 speakers representing at least 9 institutions speaking on a variety of topics. We will also have a virtual poster session with associated SPEED presentation previews for any attendee to highlight their ongoing work. The poster session will include the traditional student poster competition to showcase the research being done by the next generation of statisticians.

As the conference grows closer, we will continue to update this website with additional information, including instructions for registration and poster submission along with details about the presentations.
