It offers students a unique opportunity to learn mathematics while
exploring and enjoying the culture of Italy. Studies will be conducted at the
University of Sannio in the historic city of
Benevento – the site where the
Greek king Pyrrhus “lost the war after winning the battle” in 275 BC leading to
beginning of the Roman Empire. Planned industry visits (to be confirmed) are to a
Fiat-Chrysler Plant
, the
ENEA Nuclear Fusion Research Center and/or the Italian Aerospace Research Agency.
Cultural excursions to the ancient ruins of Pompeii with a hike on
the rim of Vesuvius, the city of Napoli, the
Royal Palace of Caserta (the Italian Versailles), and
to the famous Amalfi coast are also planned. Classes are organized so that students get ample
time to visit other cities and towns of Italy such as Rome, Milan, Florence,
Venice, Cinque Terre, Capri.

Students may register for either one or both courses.
The
pre-requisite for both courses is Calculus II (Math 1452). If you will have taken Calculus II by Spring 2019, you are eligible for this program.
The
program fee is approximately $2900.
For the last three years, a substantial part of the fee was refunded at the end of the program.
