Text: An Introduction to Dynamical Systems: Continuous and Discrete, by R. Clark Robinson, Pearson Prentice Hall, 2004
Other references: Overview: We will cover Part 1 of the text (first seven chapters) and selected topics of Part 2, particularly those in Chapters 13 and 14.

Grading and Examination Policies: Homework will be assigned and collected weekly. They will count for 25% of the grade. There will be two midterm exams in class during the semester and a final exam. Each midterm exam will count for 20% of the grade, the final exam for 35% of the grade. Students are expected to turn in all homework problems. The lowest homework score will be dropped. Homework assignments are listed on the course webpage. The exams are closed-book. No make-up exams unless legitimate documents for excuses are presented.

Examination Schedule:
Midterm 1: Wednesday, October 10.
Midterm 2: Wednesday, November 14.
FINAL EXAM: Monday, December 17, 10:30 am - 12:30pm, VinH 2.

Student Conduct: Students are required to have scholastic honesty and respect for others. We will follow university policy on student conduct (http://www1.umn.edu/regents/policies/academic/Student_Conduct_Code.pdf).

Advice: Come to class regularly, work on homework problems, write the solutions clearly. Ask questions in class and get help from the instructor during the office hours. Master the material quickly and DO NOT wait too late until the midterms or final exam.
