- 3/1/2010: As we discussed in class today,
Exam 2
will be next Friday, 3/12, in class.
It will cover material from Chapter 3.
We will have a review session on Wednesday, 3/10, at 5:00 in our
regular room.
The next quiz is this week, 3/4, in your recitation section on
material from 3.4 through 3.6. See suggested problems below.

- 2/12/2010: Solutions to Quiz 3 are posted below.
- Recall that the exam on Monday covers the material in
chapters 1 and 2. Don't worry about the Continuous Compound Interest
material at the end of 2.4 for this exam.
- 2/11/2010: I will post solutions to today's quiz (quiz 3)
Friday afternoon so you will have the solutions to study and will
return graded quiz 3 in class this Friday.
-
Note that in general I will try to post solutions to each week's
quiz late Friday afternoon so you will have the solutions to study
from. So if you need to make up a particular quiz,
you need to make it up by 5:00 p.m. Friday. After that, it's too
late. If you have a valid excuse for missing the quiz, I won't
count that particular quiz in your course grade (as long as you talk
to me about it and document your absence).
- 2/8/2010: Recommended problems for 2.3 and 2.4 are posted below.
Also, it looks like room 015 is free Thursday evening, so we'll meet in our regular
room for the review session.
- 2/7/2010: As was announced in class on Friday,
Exam 1 will be held in class Monday 2/15
.
- We will have a review session on Thursday 2/11
at 6:30 p.m. (in Math 015).
- Exam 1 will cover material from Chapters 1 and 2.
- 2/7/2010: Solutions to Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 are posted
below.
- 2/7/2010: Don't forget that you have a quiz each week in
your recitation section unless I announce otherwise.
- 1/31/2010: Because of the snow days, only Section 720 took the
quiz on Thursday. Consider that quiz practice. I won't count it since
Section 721 didn't take it. We will have
a new quiz on
material from sections 1.1 to 1.3 in class this week on Wednesday,
2/3. Then
you will have your usual quiz in section on
Thursday 2/4 on material from
1.4 through 2.2. See the recommended problems below for study suggestions.
Here is a copy of last Thursday's
quiz, so
those of you in the afternoon section can see it, too. Wednesday's (2/3)
in-class quiz will be a new quiz over similar material (sections 1.1 through
1.3 of the Strauss book).
- 1/22/2010: The first quiz will be given in your section on
Thursday 1/28/2010. It will be on the material covered by HW 1 and HW 2
below. That is, on material through p. 23 in the Strauss book (up to, but
not including composition of functions).
-
1/13/2010: First day of class.
I will put important announcements
and recommended homework problems on this page. You should check it
frequently.
