Department of Mathematics & Statistics
The Department of Mathematics hosted a reunion for all Ph.D. recipients from the inception of the Ph.D. program at Texas Tech in 1967. In addition to inviting the recipients to the reunion, former chairs
of the department and former members of the graduate faculty
were invited to return and visit.
An informal gathering
was held on Friday, August 4, at the Whisperwood Clubhouse . Then, on Saturday, August 5, the visitors were invited to visit the department offices 
,
and to see the new ILI computing lab.
A formal dinner
was held Saturday evening with _xx_ Ph.D. recipients in attendance plus _yy_ former faculty members. At the dinner, Henry (Buddy) Gray proposed creating a new graduate scholarship to honor Pat Odel
, the chair of the department, when the Ph.D. program was initially instituted.
