Jerry Dwyer, PhD
I am a professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and Director of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Center for Outreach, Research & Education (STEM-CORE) at Texas Tech University. My education is primarily from the National University of Ireland. I have worked for many years in computational mechanics related to fracture, composite materials and glaciology. In recent years, I have focused on issues of math education and developed a range of K-12 outreach projects. I am also interested in international outreach and I have worked with educators in Africa.
My current interests are in the mathematical education of teachers, the scholarship of outreach, computational mathematics, and complex dynamics. My extra-curricular activities include running, soccer, and radio.
