Until the graduate student has 18 graduate hours in mathematics and statistics, the student will be assigned duties such as proctoring a class, assisting a professor in a class, teaching a remedial class, tutoring, or grading.
After 18 graduate hours in mathematics and statistics are completed, the student is usually assigned to teach two college credit classes per semester, typically entry-level classes. As a student progresses to the doctoral level, the student will have the opportunity to teach calculus classes.
