C0 Interior Penalty Methods for Fourth Order Problems

C0 interior penalty methods are discontinuous Galerkin methods for fourth order problems. These methods use standard continuous finite elements which are much simpler than C1 finite elements, and, unlike mixed methods, the resulting discrete problem preserves the symmetric positive-definite nature of the continuous problem. In this talk we will discuss the applications of C0 interior penalty methods to some fourth order nonlinear PDEs.
